History
The Lubbock International House of Prayer began operations June 1, 2003. We believe the Holy Spirit is searching for a generation, both young and old that is abandoned to the pursuit of the heart of God and who will declare His purposes through night and day prayer. We believe that it is His desire to raise up a place in every city where prayer for that city, region, and nation can go forth 24/7. We believe that this will be accomplished by love sick worshippers who will give themselves to fasting and prayer in the spirit of the Tabernacle of David.
Scripture teaches that night and day prayer is crucial if a city is to witness the fullness of revival (Luke 18:7). We find inspiration from the story of Mary of Bethany who extravagantly worshipped Jesus by pouring her alabaster flask of costly perfume onto His body. For this the disciples criticized her, yet Jesus commended her. The Lubbock IHOP desires to provide an atmosphere of continuous worship and intercession so that we can pour out our lives as Mary did her alabaster flask.
