And afterward I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

Joel 2:28

In Paul’s letters to the Corinthians he encouraged believers to desire and to cultivate spiritual gifts, especially that we might prophesy.  To prophesy means to hear what the Father is saying and speak and declare it in order to encourage, instruct, guide and sometimes to correct. The spirit of Prophesy is the testimony of Jesus. It should point us to Him and it should open our hearts to Him yet more and more.  The “P” in IHOP stands for Prophecy and it is an integral part of what makes intercession effective.  It is hearing and praying what is on God’s heart.  In this hour we must hear what the Spirit is saying and we must develop a tender heart through every means given to us by the Holy Spirit. God speaks through His Word and through the Holy Spirit to each of us directly and through His prophets.

The most effective prophetic word is one that God has already spoken and prepared our hearts to hear.  God has gifted many of His saints with the ability to articulate and develop impressions that God is speaking to many.  It is our hope that you will be strengthened an encouraged in your faith as we present various Words and articles from the from the IHOP staff and other trusted prophetic voices in the land.
